Divas Take the Hill - PRIDE!

A huge thanks to all of you who came out last Thursday to support marriage equality in Washington State at the Divas Take The Hill Pride Kickoff Party. We had such a fabulous time watching our very own Diva hostess, Miss Gay Seattle XLVIII DonnaTella Howe, work the crowd and introduce all of the incredible performances by Miss Kitty Baby Burlesque, 2012 Nubian Queen LaSaveona Hunt, Drag King Caesar Hart, Dancer Raja Kelly of the Feath3r Theory, and DJ PBear. All of them showed off everything they had in support of marriage equality and we adore them for that! Because of all of you and the generous money you donated in support of marriage equality, we ended up raising $2410, which will be topped off to $2500 with a personal contribution from the Divas - all in all, almost twice as much as last year's Divas Take The Hill event!
The evening was definitely a night to remember and one for the Diva history books because in addition to supporting a cause that is close to the Diva’s (and all of their peeps’) hearts, there was a smile on everyone’s faces. But then again, who could stop themselves from smiling with all of the drag, drinks, food, undies, and prizes that kept the night running strong? No one. With a beautiful space donated by Velocity Dance Center and perfectly decorated by Studio 5 Design, everyone was able to enjoy a night of elegance. The night was not complete without a little (or A LOT) of Diva pizzazz added by Babeland, Retail Therapy, Vino Verite, Flowers on 15th, and Cellar Door Mercantile, who added the drinks, food, games, and clothes that kept people entertained even in the “downtime.” Finally, we were even lucky enough to have Dustin from Washington United for Marriage spend the evening at our not-so-typical fundraising extravaganza. Just as with every other Diva soiree, the event would not have been as successful or downright fun without the help of our sponsors and supporters.
Although we certainly should celebrate the success of the event, there is also much more to do in the fight to protect gay marriage in Washington State. One thing that the Divas are doing to keep the momentum going is launching out “Refer Your ‘Newlywed’ Divas to the Divas” campaign. Right now we bet all of your friends are hooking up and getting engaged waiting for that magical time when they can legally be married. Well let's make sure that one your Divas know The Divas. And two - from now until the election on November 6th, if you refer one of your fabulous newlywed pals to Team Diva Real Estate and if they buy or sell a home with us, we will donate 5% of our own commission to Washington United for Marriage. So if you know any friend who are looking to get married and take that next step toward a house together, refer them to Team Diva Real Estate and we will make sure that they are treated as the divas they are.
If you want to see some pictures from the event, check them out on Urban Utopia Photography’s Facebook page. Stay tuned for more info on how to order prints!
